Ryan Lochte Loses Speedo Sponsorship
Ryan Lochte has lost his first sponsorship in the wake of his Rio Olympics scandal.
Speedo USA said today that it has decided to terminate its sponsorship of U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte after he admitted to lying to Rio police about being held up at gunpoint.
βSpeedo USA today announces the decision to end its sponsorship of Ryan Lochte. As part of this decision, Speedo USA will donate a $50,000 portion of Lochteβs fee to Save The Children, a global charity partner of Speedo USAβs parent company, for children in Brazil,β the company said in a statement.
βWhile we have enjoyed a winning relationship with Ryan for over a decade and he has been an important member of the Speedo team, we cannot condone behavior that is counter to the values this brand has long stood for. We appreciate his many achievements and hope he moves forward and learns from this experience,β the company added.
Lochte recently admitted that he βover-exaggeratedβ the story about being held up at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro while he was there for the Olympics.
WELP!!!
Ryan recently told Matt Lauer that his βimmature behaviorβ led him to lie about what really happened that night in Rio.
βI over-exaggerated that story and if I had never done that we wouldnβt be in this mess,β he said. β
Do YOU feel bad for Lyinβ Lochte???
