When Frank Ocean missed the New York Times-reported release date of August 5th, many of us, including myself, took to the web to see if there were any loose unseen clips that might fill the void. One set of live clips from a 2013 performance in Munich proved to be just the placeholder with Frank crooning through a grip of never-heard material. Three years later, two of those tracks revealed themselves to be integral parts of Frank’s surprise, anxiety-easing release, Blonde, each respectively situated at the top and bottom of the sprawling 17-track release.
Now that the album’s actually arrived and most of our collective cognitive capacity was been rerouted to decode the expansive piece, it’s time to revisit those clips if only to learn that as it turns out, what we’ve all been seeking has, at least in small part, been sitting right on front of us this whole time. Watch as Frank Ocean performs “Ivy” and “Siegfried” live in Munich down below, and soak it up. The chances of us seeing any of the Blonde or Endless material live is slim, if there’s any chance at all. Click through to hear and see the albums exclusively via Apple Music.
