Since May 10 of this year, The Metropolitan Museum of Art has been captivating public audiences with the new "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" exhibition. Now, as several outlets have noted, it looks like acclaimed showcase has broken the record for the most-visited exhibit at The Met's Costume Institute.
Specifically, more than 1.3 million attendees at the Upper East Side museum and almost 200,000 at The Met Cloisters have experienced "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." With several days to go until its October 8 closing, this means its also close to racking up the top spot for the most-visited event in The Met's history. The current record-holder for The Met's most-attended exhibit goes to 1978's "Treasures of Tutankhamun."
