Kanye West may compare himself to the likes of Walt Disney, Steve Jobs and Michelangelo, but when it comes to the drums, he’s a devout J Dilla fan, famously referring to the sound of Dilla’s kits as “good pussy” in Stones Throw‘s Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton doc.

According to Rappcats, back in 2002 when Dilla turned in a CDR (irreverently-labeled “The Middle Finger”) that would eventually become the lost-and-found major label debut The Diary, there was a mix of the album cut “The Diary” helmed by Mr. West, who at the time was sculpting hits for the likes of Jay Z and Talib Kweli. Now, Rappcats is getting ready to officially release that mix on a very limited run of 1,000 hand-numbered white label 12-inch pressings that also feature an alternate vocal take of Dilla’s classic, “Fuck The Police.”

Shipments will begin on October 5th with pre-orders underway via Rappcats. Go ahead and grab yours quick while supplies last. This one is not to be slept on by Dilla or Kanye enthusiasts. The Diary is out now and can be purchased on iTunes today. You can also pick up a copy on wax from The OKP Shop.
