Some of the world’s rarest uni are harvested by older Korean women on South Korea’s Jeju Island. Haenyeo, meaning β€œwomen of the sea” in Korean, are a dwindling group of female divers who live and work on the island, putting their lives at risk to harvest seafood and provide for their families. One haenyeo and restaurateur, Nam Young Kim, has been diving for over 40 years, with no signs of stopping.
