Not even old enough to vote, The Republic of Brooklyn’s own Jay Lonzo is gaining deep traction in the game, and at just 17 years young. His breakout single “Live! From Brooklyn” was touted for its geocentric glory, celebrating his borough and its bar-blazing bloodline with sharp delivery and dense lyricism. Today he shares the visual for his latest single “Lights Out,” a banger that applies those staples of his hometown’s musical lineage to trap textures and minimalistic production; a sound that’s ready for the streets and the radio dial all at once.
No word on whether we’ll get a full-length project from the young gun anytime soon, but “Lights Out” will surely hold us over, for now. Peep the video for Jay Lonzo’s new joint “Lights Out” down below. And to dig a little deeper into his catalogue, head over to his Soundcloud page and soak it all up. Check back for his next transmission.
