Jamila Hunter Named New Head Of Comedy ABC
A Spelman College grad who previously worked on the creative team that launched Oprah’s OWN network, has received a top promotion.
Jamila Hunter who graduated from the HBCU in 1996, is now Senior Vice President/the head of ABC’s comedy department.
ABC has named Jamila Hunter, C’96, senior vice president and head of the network’s comedy department.
In her new position, she will oversee the development and production of all comedy pilots for ABC Entertainment.
Since joining ABC as vice president of comedy in 2011, Hunter has worked on several successful new projects for the Disney network, including “Black-ish,” “Fresh Off the Boat,” “The Real O’Neals” and “Last Man Standing.
”In October 2015, her role expanded to include multiplatform comedy development for ABC’s recently revamped app.
From 2005 to 2008, she was vice president of comedy development at 20th Century Fox Television.
