Nate Parker Premieres “Birth Of A Nation” In L.A.

There’s been tons of controversy over Nate Parker’s new film ‘Birth of A Nation’ which opens in theaters on October 7, but for the most part it hasn’t been because of the film’s sensitive nature. Parker’s been called out over sexual assault allegations he faced 17 years ago, along with his co-writer — but it seems like most of the storm has passed as the film made it’s premiere Wednesday night in Los Angeles, stars including Nas, Jesse Williams, Chadwick Bozeman and many others were there to watch. BOSSIP attended a screening earlier this week and we were deeply moved by the project, which portrays the atrocities of slavery in such detail that some moments were difficult to watch.

Gabrielle Union has a pretty small role in the film, but what happens to her is very important to the plot. We’re loving the natural hairstyles she wore for the project too.
