It was only a few months back that we had the pleasure of formally introducing you to to the pop and purple laced funk of Starchild & The New Romantic. Since then, Starchild (AKA Bryndon Cook) has been touring the country and was recently featured as one of the copilots of Blood Orange‘s new album Freetown Sound, while also working on his own follow-up to Crucial, which was released this past spring.
Today he returns with a self-directed visual for his brilliant spin on Porches‘ breakout hit “Mood,” where heartbreak turns to catharsis by way of sharp, expertly-executed choreography that would have Morris Day asking what time it is. And if that’s not enough, Starchild will also be performing right here in the Republic of Brooklyn throughout the month, first at Bed-Stuy’s C’mon Everybody on August 10th, then joining River Tiber and DAWN at a Red Bull Sound Select show at Bushwick’s House Of Yes on August 16th. Watch the new video for his Porches refreaq down below and if you’ve yet to hear the Crucial LP, pick up your copy on iTunes or scoop the vinyl via Ghostly International.
