While the engagement unquestionably boosted Ohanian’s name recognition with the public at large, the man has already made a name for himself within the tech industry—and you likely use the website that he helped create. Ohanian is the co-founder of Reddit (the app you surf while hiding your smartphone from your boss), which he started with his college friend, Steve Huffman, in 2005. The popular news and discussion website has grown into a digital juggernaut, boasting some 234 million unique users and 8 billion pageviews a month. It’s become so successful that in 2014, a major round of investment saw the company’s value rise to $500 million. And one of the investors in that round? Snoop Dogg.
