2016 sucked royally, man, as the year took away all of our favorite singers, songwriters and entertainers. One that hit extremely hard was the passing of David Bowie. Even though he knew he was going to the other side, Ziggy Stardust had a plan, which was executed during the wee hours of Saturday night / morn. Columbia Records released a surprise new EP in Bowie’s name, which is being billed as the Thin White Duke’s final known recordings. No Plan, which you can stream below thanks to Spotify, contains three new tracks, “No Plan,” “Killing a Little Time” and “When I Met You”.
A bonus track from Blackstar, “Lazurus,” is also included on the No Plan EP.
All the material has originated from those Blackstar sessions and mark the first time they are available as a standalone release. This is not the only gift from Bowie that we were fortunate to receive, as he has also included a video for “No Plan,” which you can also see below. Directed by Tom Hingston, “No Plan” is a tribute to one of music’s most indelible characters. In it, there are references to the 1972 film, The Man Who Fell to Earth, such as Newton Electrical which was a wink-and-a-nod to Bowie’s character, Thomas Newton, in that film. Foxgrove Road is an allusion of sorts to where the young gawd, David Bowie lived before the release of Space Oddity.
